This was a travel day.  We said our goodbyes and left Kudjip about 7 a.m. this morning. It took three vehicles to get us there with Tim, Don, and Justin as our drivers.  There were no difficulties getting our tickets or passing through security at the Mt. Hagen airport.  But now time to wait for the first airplane of the day.  We were scheduled to leave Hagen at 10 a.m. for an hour flight to Port Moresby.  There we had to pick up our luggage and recheck into the international desk.  Then more waiting as our plane was not scheduled to leave Port Moresby until 2 p.m.  We had time to grab a little lunch and do some shopping since we hadn’t had much opportunity any other time.  Of course the items are a little more pricey but………  We left about 2 p.m. and landed in Sydney at 5:55 p.m. and it was already dark!  There we had to pick up our luggage and go through customs and immigration.  We were told to definitely declare any items that we had purchased in PNG, especially anything made of wood so it took a little longer to get through the process.  Then to get money exchanged into Aussie dollars at an exchange rate of US 1 to AUD 1.1 (I think).  The easiest way to get to the hotel in downtown Sydney with a group of 15 was on the train.  There is a train stop right at the international terminal and the train goes to within a couple blocks of our ho!el.  The only problem is maneuvering all the luggage we have.  But we made it about 7 p.m. Once checked into the hotel everyone is now on their own until morning.  After a hamburger at a restaurant across the street from the hotel I think we’ll call it a night!
