This morning was very foggy.   Darrell, Sam & the JF team worked on the projector and checked out the video card.  The projector is computer based so Darrell reset it and it is working fine.  The card looks like it may be the problem.  There is a lot of pixilation on it so will probably have to get another card for this team.  But meanwhile they also have a dvd from a different backpack set so will plan to go ahead and try to do a showing tonight.

We left the hotel shortly after 10 a.m. and stopped at a couple of the little stores on the main road to buy an umbrella for Davina and a warm vest for Gordon. Then we made our way out of town stopping a couple of times to pick up members of the JF team.  We made our way north to the town that intersects the east/west road where we picked up T.  We also bought some bananas and oranges there.  Most of us are really craving some fresh fruit and those are two we know we can eat safely because they are peeled.  We then turned down a narrow road to a store-front that has been donated to the church.  It is very small…not even the size of a one-car garage but it will be used for services.  We also met S’s parents and sister, who are believers.  We prayed for the small congregation and the persecution they will encounter.  Then we piled back into the van to go to our outing for the day.

This time we turned east on the highway.  It seems to be a more populated route as there were houses all up and down the road and many more people walking along.  Part way along that route we stopped at a lake.  There was also a Hindu temple at the site in which a wedding celebration was taking place.  Davina, Gordon and all the Nepali with us took a short boat right on a wooden boat.  The owner had to bail the water out of the bottom of the boat before they boarded!  He then used a bamboo pole as an oar to move them away from the shore.  They saw a crocodile while they were out. The wedding party offered us some of their buttered Nan.  Since S said it was ok to eat most of us had a little.  It was good.  Then back to our travels.

We traveled a great distance….Mike guesstimated approximately 80 kilometers before turning off onto another bumpy, rut-filled road.  I think we must have travel a thousand miles on that road!!!  but it was probably more like 30 or 40 kilometers.  By now it was close to 3:30 p.m. and we still had not stopped to eat.  Actually, I am sure there was not a place that would have been safe enough for these American stomachs to tolerate.  We finally came to the end of the road which was labeled Tikapur Park. This is also the first place we stopped since we left the hotel in which we could go to the restroom….which again is a typical squat pot.  Now is all walking.  This is the historical home of at least the last two kings of Nepal.  The gardens are very nice and, I am assuming that during the summer months they are beautifully covered in flowers from the looks of them.  Our guide also took us just outside the gardens to see the river.  There were some people working on what looked like a river diversion.  They were hand pounding rocks to lay on the river bed.  There were tons of big round rocks everywhere.

After leaving the park we drove back down the road a short distance to a “resort” where we did eat a small meal of rice and chicken.  Then back into the van to travel back down the dirt road to the paved road.  Traveling back west we went probably 10 miles before turning off again onto a dirt road.  This time the distance was quite short before we turned into the yard of a house.  Yea!  No long walking.  This house was quite nice comparatively.  Two storied and nice neat barns.  The ground was hard packed dirt.  The film was set up and the showing commenced.  The dvd wouldn’t work!!! so the film card was used and it worked fine tonight.  There were approximately 75 people at this film.  No rain tonight.  In fact it was so clear we could see millions of stars in the sky.  After the film we loaded back into the van.  I think the van driver was eager to get back as he drove very fast to make it home.  We arrived back at the hotel at 10:45 very ready to go to bed.  Another adventure tomorrow!!
