Even as we were getting on the bus to leave church members were showing up to tell us goodbye! There are lots and lots of great people at the church in Poas! One or two even tried to go with us! But, there does come a time that we need to leave………. This morning the sky was absolutely beautifully blue and cloudless. The valley and mountains were so pretty as we drove to the airport. We said our goodbyes to Anne, one of the best Work & Witness coordinators we’ve ever worked with, and then made our way into the airport to pay our exit tax and make our way into the security area. We found out our plane was going to be delayed about 30-45 minutes so we enjoyed the three hour wait sleeping, eating, playing Uno, and doing more shopping!!! We do have to get rid of those Costa Rican colones somewhere.
We arrived in Houston around 4:30 p.m. We hurried through immigration, luggage pickup, customs, reentry into the security area and to our gate as the Amarillo group had a 6:10 take-off. Saying goodbye to our 4 great friends, Ron & Jackie as they go on to the Dallas area and Clarence & Wonda as they head to Midland is bittersweet. Too bad these great people live far away! We arrived only to find the plane delayed until 6:30. Whew! Time to get a coke or something to eat. Once we were loaded onto the plane we were delayed again…….for an hour sitting in the plane waiting for a repair part to take to a plane in Amarillo.
Finally arrived in Amarillo at 9 p.m……just an hour late. We were glad to see a little welcoming group of different family members waiting for us. It’s good to be home to hot showers and comfortable beds.
