Arrival in Calcutta

Well, here we are. In Calcutta...or Kolkata as it is spelled here. It is 2:45 in the morning on Monday morning local time. That is 3:45 Sunday afternoon Central time. It is very muggy...probably 100% humidity and well over 80F. We arrived here about 1 a.m. and spent this whole time going through immigration and trying to pick up our luggage. We are leaving some of our bags here with the COTN representatives so that we don't have to take them with us into Bangladesh and then bring them back into India. They are the bags that we are going to take with us to Rameswarem. It was very confusing for the airport personnel but it finally got taken care of. The church rep had been waiting outside for over an hour for us. Right now we are in the airport waiting room watching some men with a gas-powered machine spraying mosquito fog all over the inside of the building. 'There go the lungs!' Thankfully, we were able to find someone here who was willing to open up a small shop and sell us bottles of water for $1 US. We will wait here until the Jet Airline desk opens at 4:30 so we can check in our bags for the rest of our trip today to Dhaka, Bangladesh. That plane is scheduled to leave Calcutta at 7a.m. Will write as able.
