Addendum

Trying to leave Jordan was quite an experience! We had checked online the night before to make sure our tickets were still confirmed, but upon arriving at the airport we were told that the seats for Sam, Susan, and Clyde had been cancelled! After much discussion, a young lady with BMI Airlines, Susie, came to our rescue. She immediately phoned the BMI agent in London, who in turn contacted a British Airways agent. (Our tickets were with British Airways, but the flights out of Jordan are handled by BMI Airlines.) Originally we were told that we would have to purchase one-way tickets to London and then sort it out with British Air. We were about to do that when Susie was able to get permission to issue us tickets to London on the plane that was leaving in 15 minutes! (Only one flight out each day with this airline)

We then rushed over to Immigration with our copy of our group visa and was informed that since we were not with the group at that time we had to pay for individual visas to be able to exit Jordan. After a rush to exchange money, they would not accept US currency, (although, it is readily accepted throughout the country), we were hurrying to get the paperwork finished when Susie once again came to the rescue! She hurried the Immigration paperwork and occupied us through security and to the gate, all the while on the radio to the plane telling them not to leave. We boarded the plane at 9:15 am, it was scheduled for departure at 9:10.

Once we arrived in London we checked with the British Airways ticket agent and was told that our tickets were all in order, and that we had our seats upgraded one level on the flight to Chicago. As this was the longest leg of the journey having a larger seat with more leg room was greatly appreciated. The flight to Chicago was uneventful and we were able to get some sleep on the plane.

We arrived in Chicago, picked up our bags and went through customs without incident. Then, it was waiting time again. We were flying to Kansas City, but were delayed in takeoff due to storms in KC. Finally we were able to leave and arrived in KC at 12:30 am, two hours later than scheduled.

This all made for an extremely long and tiring day. We had gotten up in Jordan at 5:45 am on Thursday and arrived in KC at 12:30 am on Friday, 27+ hours later.

After a visit with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, we left KC on Saturday afternoon and drove to Oklahoma City to visit our other two daughters and spouses. We had an enjoyable time visiting with them and attending church on Sunday, Father's Day, with them. We had lunch with Susan's brother and sons, along with our daughters and spouses, and then headed home to Amarillo. We arrived home at 7 pm to a temperature of 104 F and an air conditioner that was not working. After a couple of hours we had it working and had the house cooled down nicely by bedtime.

After a night of sleep in our own beds, it is back to work and back to the 'real world.'

Thank you for following along on this adventure with us. Hopefully we will be able to 'journey' together again soon.
